‘It breaks my heart’ – Rod Stewart shares Rangers admission with Jim White
Celtic superfan Rod Steward has admitted that the Hoops have their ‘work cut out’ if they are to beat Rangers to the Scottish Premiership title this season.
The Gers sit nine points clear of Celtic in the table though the Bhoys have two games in hand and Stewart has tipped the title race to go to the wire this season.
Speaking to Jim White on TalkSPORT, Stewart also credited how well Steven Gerrard’s side are playing at the moment.
He said, “I must give full credit, although it breaks my heart Jim, to Rangers. They are playing so well, they are playing so well and we’ve got our work cut out to stop them winning, and stop us doing ten in a row.
“It’s going to be a real finale, I do hope the fans are back.”
Gers fans will also be hoping that they are allowed back into Ibrox by the end of the season as they will want to celebrate a potential title win at their home ground after watching a large portion of the season from the comfort of their own homes.
Stewart is a huge Celtic fan despite being born in London. He explained last year that he became a Hoops fan after meeting Kenny Dalglish and Jock Stein in the 1970s.
It is surprising to hear a Celtic fan being so complimentary of the Gers this season but it is hard to deny the quality of Gerrard’s side even if you support the Gers’ bitter rivals.
There is, of course, a long way to go until the end of the season and one Rangers loss in the Scottish Premiership opens the door for Celtic as they look to win an unprecedented 10th title in a row.
In other Rangers news, Alex McLeish is ‘thrilled’ that the gers were linked with a talented player this summer.
