‘Immense’, ‘Outstanding’ – These fans blown away by int’l display from one Rangers player

Scotland have qualified for their first major tournament since 1998 and many Rangers fans hailed the vital contribution from Ryan Jack, who played the full 120 minutes on Thursday night.

It was a dramatic night with Scotland taking the lead in the 52nd minute before Luka Jovic equalised for Serbia in injury time.

There were no more goals in extra time and it meant Scotland had to do things the hard way – for the second time after beating Israel on penalties in the semi-final of the play-offs.

The penalties from the Scotland players were immaculate and it all came down to Aleksandar Mitrovic, who took the fifth spot-kick for his country.

Talking on the Sky Sports coverage (Thursday, 7pm), Darren Fletcher said that he’d done this for the “glory” but if that was the case it backfired as his penalty was saved.

After a quick check to make sure VAR was okay with the save, the Scotland players celebrated a historic win.

Jack was brilliant in the middle of the park, as Gers fans would have expected. Cool, calm and collected, Jack might not get the plaudits he deserves but he always gets the job done.

He dominated the middle of the park and we think he was one of the best players on the pitch.

Plenty of fans queued up to pay tribute to him after last night’s display – and not all of them from Rangers.

Here are the best reactions from delighted fans…
