Many Rangers fans blast Glasgow City Council for Union Flag incident: ‘Disgusting’, ‘Ridiculous’

Rangers fans have blasted Glasgow City Council after the Union Flag was removed swiftly after a two-minute silence on Remembrance Day.

An angry Gers fan tweeted the council to demand an explanation as to why the flag was taken down so soon after the period of silence was finished.

Glasgow City Council wrote: “Hello, Apologies – No disrespect was intended. There was an unfortunate flag malfunction in high winds. The toggle that helps hoist the flag became separated. It will have to be retrieved from the top of the flag pole to allow us to fly the Flag once again.”

It seems plausible as it was windy on Wednesday and if the flag is in some way broken, why wouldn’t you take it down? It’s better to have nothing up there than have a flag that’s almost falling off.

Unfortunately, a lot of Rangers fans fail to see any truth in the council’s response and are in meltdown over the flag being removed.

Here is a selection of their tweets:

We didn’t think something like this would cause such an outrage.

There are plenty of Rangers fans who believe that the SFA and the SPFL lean in favour of Celtic (Celtic fans feel the same but the other way around) and now Glasgow City Council also seems as though it’s coming under attack too.

Yes, a Celtic flag was hoisted up at City Chambers earlier this year but that was clearly one idiot and not something the council would be behind.

Why is it so hard to believe that the flag was actually broken? Do you really think the council would so brazen to remove the Union Flag instantly after the two-minutes silence because of a political motive?

This next Rangers fan who attended the two-minutes silence shows that there’s nothing here to not believe.

In other Rangers news, the Gers may have the next James Tavernier right under their noses.
