Rangers ‘star-man’ features in SPFL TOTW after 8-0 demolition of Hamilton
The dust appears to finally have settled after Rangers 8-0 win against Hamilton on Sunday afternoon at Ibrox.
Steven Gerrard was delighted with his squad after they went nine points clear at the top of the league and extended their goal-difference further beyond Celtics.
Kemar Roofe, Joe Aribo and James Tavernier all scored twice, with Brandon Barker and Scott Arfield also finding the back of the net.
Every single one of the Bears squad could have featured in the SPFL Team of the Week, but there was only one spot available per side.
Craig Fowler from ‘A View From the Terrace’ has decided to single out Roofe, for his role in the final third in the demolition job.
“Running Elyounoussi close for star man status was Rangers’ hitman Roofe,” he wrote.
“The English striker netted twice and notched an assist as the Ibrox side completely ran over Hamilton Accies with an 8-0 triumph at Ibrox.”
Roofe has endured a stop-start beginning to his Rangers career.
After struggling with injuries, Gerrard admitted that the forward was playing “angry” after failing to feature against Benfica in midweek before.
The strength in depth at Ibrox in the final third has gone from an area of worry to one of the best around, and Roofe has certainly staked his claim to start again after the international break.
The 27-year-old also added an assist on Sunday and made 13 progressive runs according to WyScout – nine more than his previous best in one game.
Roofe is starting to find his best form, and it is vital that he continues.
