Ian Durrant has heaped praise on Rangers midfielder Bongani Zungu for his instant impact at Ibrox since arriving.

The South African international made his debut against Hamilton on Sunday, coming on at half-time in the 8-0 demolition job.

Durrant claimed that along with Joe Aribo in midfield, they were both “fantastic” and made a great impact aganist the Accies.

Durrant believes that Zungu looks like he has been in Glasgow for years rather than just a number of weeks since arriving from Amiens.

“He’s been playing with the boys for a couple of weeks now, he comes on and just slotted in,” he said on the Blues Brothers podcast.

“You feel as though he’s been there a lot longer than he has, he played the game and along with Aribo – he was again fantastic.”

Zungu has been posting on social media all week and has fitted into the dressing room perfectly, with a number of players sending congratulations on social media.

The 28-year-old would have found it easy to come on to the pitch on Sunday with the score at 4-0 and take it easy, but Zungu did the opposite.

Zungu was aggressive and made sure that the Bears stayed on top of the Accies, and continued to dominate them in midfield and launch continuous attacks.

The midfielder completed 87% of his passes, and also made four recoveries according to WyScout, as he made the task even harder for Hamilton after they were destroyed in both halves.

It’s been a great start to life at Ibrox for Zungu, and the only way is up.
