Ally McCoist has brilliant reaction when asked if Rangers have already won the Premiership

talkSPORT host Laura Wood tried to get Ally McCoist to stick his neck out and say that Rangers had already won the league on Tuesday morning, but the canny pundit wasn’t having any of it.

“Do you think Rangers…” Wood said.

McCoist butted in ‘singing’, “No, no, no, no, no.”

“So you don’t think…” Wood tried again.

“No, no, no, no, no,” McCoist sang again.

“I was going to ask if the title is yours,” said Wood.

“There’s miles to go. Everybody calm down. There’s miles to go.”

Wood asked if there would be a big party if Rangers did go on to win the title.

“There would be a big party, but there’s miles to go,” McCoist said. “It’s going to be a very interesting season but Rangers have started brilliantly. It’s the best I’ve seen them in a long time.

“The only thing I would say about Rangers before is that they weren’t killing games off. No matter how well they played they just couldn’t kill games off. It was 1-0, 2-0… That clearly wasn’t the case on Sunday, they were unbelievably ruthless.”

Wood tried one last time saying, “You’re not going to be dragged into it are you?”

“Nope,” said McCoist.

Calm down

Rangers might be nine points ahead but Celtic have two games in hand.

If they win those, as they should, there are only three points in it.

What madness is it when people are trying to hand Rangers the Premiership title with three points in it ahead of Christmas?

McCoist had it bang on when he said that people need to calm down.

Interestingly, the bookies think that Rangers are going to go on and lift the title.

They’ve priced Rangers at 1/2 with Celtic at 9/5. That’s a complete switch around on the odds at the start of the season.

However, while Rangers are odds on, the 1/2 price converts to a 66% probability. That’s far from nailed on and it would be the ultimate folly for any Bears to be celebrating now.

However, what that price does show is how far Steven Gerrard has brought Rangers on and the 8-0 thrashing of Hamilton underlines it.
