Ally McCoist delivers Rangers transfer update that will worry some Bears

Ally McCoist has claimed he spoke to a Premier League scout while he was at Ibrox watching Rangers beat Hamilton 8-0.

The Gers stayed nine points clear of Celtic with their dominating win this weekend as Steven Gerrard’s side banished memories of last season’s pivotal 1-0 defeat to the Accies.

McCoist claims that a Southampton scout was at Ibrox watching the game but he didn’t offer any detail on who he might’ve been watching.

The Daily Record report that speaking on TalkSPORT, McCoist said, “I was at the Rangers game yesterday and I was actually chatting to a lad behind me who was one of Southampton’s scouts.”

The worrying thing for Rangers fans is that there was a report that the Saints were watching a certain talented midfielder a few weeks ago and McCoist’s comments suggest that the report was accurate.

TEAMtalk recently reported that Southampton are one of numerous clubs keeping tabs on Glen Kamara with Gerrard worried that he could leave in the January transfer window.

Hopefully, for the scout’s sake, he wasn’t just looking at Kamara as the 24-year-old stayed on the bench for the Light Blues’ impressive win. But plenty of other Gers players impressed which will set alarm bells ringing ahead of the upcoming January transfer window.

Joe Aribo was particularly good as he bagged himself a brace and he is just the kind of dynamic midfielder who would thrive in Southampton’s current squad. He is also of the age where he could move to the Premier League and have plenty of time to develop into an outstanding midfield player.

Gerrard won’t want to lose any of his players in January as he looks to bring the Scottish Premiership title back to Ibrox so it would take a hefty fee to convince the Gers to part with either Kamara or Aribo.
