Bongani Zungu shares Instagram message after Rangers debut in 8-0 win v Hamilton

Rangers midfielder Bongani Zungu finally made his debut for the club in the 8-0 win over Hamilton on Sunday afternoon at Ibrox.

The South African international has faced a long road to this moment, after having to quarantine for two weeks before even being allowed to start training.

Steven Gerrard decided to unleash the midfielder at half-time against the Accies, as he finally got his first taste of Scottish action.

Zungu appears to have settled in perfectly in Ibrox.

The midfielder has shared his reaction to his debut with a message on his personal Instagram account, claiming the Bears must push on.

“Delighted for my debut,” he wrote.

“Congratulations to the team for the massive win. We keep going.”

The 28-year-old came on and made a positive impact, on and off the ball as Gerrard demanded the same intensity throughout.

Zungu completed 35 of his 38 passes according to WhoScored and kept 4.1% of the entire possession for the Bears in only 45 minutes.

Gerrard spoke after the game and admitted that he was delighted with the impact he made, claiming he showed fans what he was about with his display.

It takes a good player to come on and fill the void left by someone like Glen Kamara, who managed to be rested for the entire 90 minutes, despite his world-class start to the season.

Having rotation options such as this will only benefit the Bears as they hunt for the title, and Zungu appears ready for the challenge ahead of him.
