‘I’m glad…’ – Manager sends Rangers 23y/o message after international snub
Rangers forward Cedric Itten has missed out on an international call-up for Switzerland in their November games.
The towering striker has been snubbed alongside fellow Scottish League player Albian Ajeti, despite impressive recently.
Itten started his first game in months against Kilmarnock last week and put in a display to remember in the 1-0 win at Rugby Park.
Switzerland boss Vladimir Petkovic has addressed his recent snub of the 23-year-old, claiming that he still has a role to play from Glasgow.
It appears as though Itten will be classed as a back-up forward just in case the worst happens with COVID-19 cases.
“I think we have other players who can help us instead,” he said, via the Daily Record.
“But both of them have also done well in their teams lately. I’m glad I have them in the pool of players for the future.
“We are lucky because we have a very good group of players who are on the stand-by list in case any of the squad tests positive for Covid.”
Steven Gerrard was delighted with his forward against Kilmarnock, even labelling him as the Man of the Match publically.
The young striker has caught the attention of his teammates too, with skipper James Tavernier delighted with the impact he has made at Ibrox.
Itten completed 43 minutes in the past international break against Germany and Croatia, and it appears that he needs to show more to cement his spot back in the Swiss side.
