‘Get them out’, ‘Announce termination’ – Many Rangers fans in meltdown over tweet by sponsor
Cadbury have been official sponsors for Rangers for only two deals and the relationship between the chocolate manufacturers and Gers fans has already turned sour.
Earlier this week, Rangers announced via their official website that Cadbury has become “the club’s official snacking partner” for this season after a “new global partnership with Mondelēz International” was clinched.
However, it seems that Cadbury have no allegiances in Scottish football as on Wednesday, Celtic confirmed that they had struck a similar deal with the chocolate giants.
Supporters on both sides of the Old Firm divide are now threatening to boycott chocolate bars because of which team they cheer on at the weekend.
But it didn’t help matters when Cadbury tweeted “COYBIG” on their official UK Twitter account after Celtic’s deal was announced.
When Rangers announced their deal, Cadbury simply tweeted: “Ready to make a difference together.”
We can’t believe we’re saying this but a lot of Rangers fans are actually in meltdown over this harmless tweet.
Some are calling on the club to sever ties while others have threatened to buy Nestle chocolate instead.
Old Firm fans, eh?
Here is a selection of their tweets:

Rangers are not going to pull the plug on a sponsorship deal because of that tweet and we really don’t know why people are getting so irate about it.
Do you really think that Cadbury has a preference? They just want to make money.
Whoever posted the “COYBIG” tweet was probably unaware of the response it would get or simply posted it because they knew it would get a lot of attention.
In other Rangers news, a person has been hospitalised after a crazy turn of events at Benfica ahead of the Gers’ match there this week.
