Int’l boss details plans for Rangers player following club statement

Northern Ireland boss Ian Baraclough has said that he won’t be selecting Jordan Jones for his next squad after the Rangers player broke COVID protocols.

Jones and George Edmundson were suspended by Rangers on Tuesday after the pair broke COVID-19 protocols to attend a party.

Speaking to The Scottish Sun, Baraclough condemned Jones’ actions and confirmed he wouldn’t be selected in the next Northern Ireland squad.

He said, “I have spoken to Jordan today and made my feelings on the matter clear to him. Jordan is a talented young player who has a lot to offer Northern Irish football.

“Unfortunately he has made the wrong decision in a period where we all need to look out for the safety of others, as well as ourselves.

Some Gers fans have called for both Jones and Edmundson to be sacked by the club after they endangered everyone at Ibrox with their selfish actions. Edmundson wouldn’t be too much of a miss if he was to be let go, but if Jones was fired it would be the final chapter of a frustrating story.

Jones scored his first Rangers goal in his side’s 5-1 win over Motherwell earlier this season and just as it looked as if he was getting his Ibrox career back on track, he has made a very stupid decision.

The 26-year-old only made 15 appearances in his first season at Ibrox as a knee injury ruled him out for a prolonged period. While it remains to be seen how the club will punish Jones and Edmundson, it seems that Jones’ Rangers career could be over without it ever really getting started.
