‘Can’t stand it’ – Craig Levein says what he thinks about Celtic 10-in-a-row claims

Former Scotland manager Craig Levein said that it “would be good” for Rangers to win the Scottish Premiership ahead of Celtic this season.

Celtic are claiming that they’re targeting their 10 consecutive title this season, despite last season being curtailed early, with Rangers looking for their first since 2011.

Speaking on the Off the Ball podcast, Levein said he does not want to see Celtic win 10 in a row, claiming that it would be more hassle than it is worth.

“They [Celtic] have been over the course before but you know, I just can’t stand this whole ten-in-a-row thing. It really gets to me,” said Levein [Off the Ball 31/10/20].

“I just don’t want there to be all the hassle that goes with it. It would be good if Rangers won the league this season so it’s back to square one. I just don’t want this whole ten-in-a-row thing to become more than it is. It goes back to zero and we can start again.”

Outside support

While Levein has never played for or managed Rangers, it is interesting to see that people from outside the Old Firm rivalry want to see the Gers win the title.

Watching Celtic lift the trophy year after year must be frustrating for fans of all clubs, not just at Ibrox, and given that Neil Lennon’s side are going for a record 10th title, this is a more significant battle between the two sides than in a normal season.

Rangers are now nine points clear, but having played two matches more than Celtic and with plenty of games still to play.

Steven Gerrard’s side have been excellent in defence, conceding just three goals from their opening 13 matches.

However, in attack they have not been prolific in recent weeks and required a penalty to get past Kilmarnock on Sunday (via WhoScored).
