Rangers confirmed team news: Five changes, Itten & Morelos start v Kilmarnock
Steven Gerrard has made fives changes to Rangers’ starting line-up ahead of their Scottish Premiership showdown against Kilmarnock on Sunday.
After beating Lech Poznan 1-0 in the Europa League on Thursday night, Gerrard has opted to drop Leon Balogun, Glen Kamara, Steven Davis, Ianis Hagi and Kemar Roofe.
Filip Helander, Ryan Jack, Joe Aribo, Cedric Itten and Alfredo Morelos all return to the starting line-up.
Rangers confirmed the team news via their official Twitter account prior to kick-off at Rugby Park.
As Celtic are not playing in the league this weekend, Rangers have a chance to go nine points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership table if they win away at Kilmarnock.
Rugby Park hasn’t been the best of hunting grounds for the Gers in recent seasons but Gerrard’s side is in the best form we’ve seen for a long time now.
The Gers are scoring goals, playing with flair and passion, staying solid at the back, keeping clean sheets and, most importantly, winning matches.
However, Rangers will have to play better than they did on Thursday night.
Although they beat Lech Poznan to preserve their 100 per cent start to the Europa League group stages, it wasn’t the most convincing of performances.
Poznan had chances to take the lead themselves and Rangers looked very sloppy at times.
Gerrard and his players need to prove that match was nothing more than a blip and really come out with all guns blazing against Killie.
In other Rangers news, Ally McCoist has been raving about this “fantastic” Gers fringe player.
