‘Horrendous’ – Alex Rae reacts to Rangers 1-0 win v Kilmarnock on Twitter
Rangers continued their impressive winning run with a 1-0 victory against Kilmarnock on Sunday afternoon.
James Tavernier tucked away a penalty in the first half, and his tenth goal of the season was enough for another three points.
Rugby Park hasn’t been a happy hunting ground in recent years for the Gers, and Steven Gerrard delighted with his side’s performance.
Alex Rae has reacted to the victory on his personal Twitter account, as Rangers extended their gap to nine points in the league.
The former midfielder praised Tavernier for his penalty and the whole side for getting through the test on the astroturf.
“Kilmarnock 0 – 1 Rangers,” he wrote. “James Tavernier with the all-important penalty. Well earned win in horrendous conditions.”
Once again, Gerrard made a handful of changes to his side – another sign that the Gers’ strength in depth has made all the difference this season.
The likes of Cedric Itten and Joe Aribo were brought into the starting XI, and that duo were both superb at Rugby Park.
Gerrard singled out Itten as the Man of the Match after the game, with Tavernier also heaping praise on the Swiss forward.
Rae singled out the skipper for his penalty, but his assessment of the game clearly proves that the Bears finally have a starting side capable of bringing home the title.
All eyes now move to the Benfica clash on Thursday, where conditions will clearly be significantly better in what promises to be a sterner test.
