‘Atrocious’, ‘Passenger’ – Many Rangers fans blast ‘Terrible’ player despite win v Killie

Some Rangers fans have criticised Ryan Kent after a poor performance against Kilmarnock on Sunday afternoon.

The Gers won 1-0 at Rugby Park thanks to an excellent first-half James Tavernier penalty. Killie grew into the game in the second half but the Gers held strong and moved nine points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

Kent, however, was anonymous for large periods of the game and he spurned a glorious chance to double his side’s lead early in the second half. The miss summed up Kent’s performance as it lacked power and placement.

The winger received the ball unmarked inside the Killie box but put his shot straight at the goalkeeper. This miss could’ve cost Rangers the game and the 23-year-old has his defenders to thank as they put their bodies on the line to prevent the home side scoring.

The only positive’s from Kent’s game was that he occasionally brought Rangers forward with driving runs but most of the time he was easily dispossessed and could only watch as Kilmarnock countered. He also failed to hold up the ball in the late stages of the game, failing to ease the pressure on his defence.

Kent also didn’t really do a winger’s job as he failed to find either Alfredo Morelos or Cedric Itten with his attempted crosses.

Some fans called Kent’s performance ‘terrible’ while others criticised the finishing of the Englishman after he missed that huge chance.

Following this poor performance, could we see Kent dropped for the Gers’ next game against Benfica? It would certainly be warranted after Sunday’s performance but there are questions over who would replace the Englishman.
