‘Extraordinary season’ – Sky Sports pundit predicts score in Rangers v Kilmarnock clash

Andy Walker has predicted a narrow win for Rangers at Rugby Park this weekend while highlighting which Kilmarnock player the Gers will need to be wary of.

Walker thinks that the Gers will win 2-1 against Kilmarnock but said that former Ibrox man Chris Burke could cause his former side some problems.

While doing his weekly Scottish Premiership predictions for Sky Sports, the former Celtic striker also claimed that Alfredo Morelos will be rewarded with a league start after his mid-week goal against Lech Poznan.

He said, “In an attacking sense, I’ve been so impressed with Chris Burke over the last 12 months or so for Kilmarnock, his attitude and desire to contribute at 36 is as strong as it ever was. He’ll want to trouble Steven Gerrard’s men, who are consistently giving nothing away defensively.

“The goal from Alfredo Morelos on Thursday night in the Europa League should see him get another start on Sunday. In this extraordinary season where every league game is so important, it’s a chance for Rangers to go nine points clear of Celtic with a win, albeit having played two more games. 2-1 Rangers”.

Celtic are in Scottish Cup action this weekend as they face Aberdeen in last season’s delayed semi-final. If Gerrard’s side can get the win against Kilmarnock it will pile the pressure on their city rivals, despite the Hoops’ games in hand.

Rangers

Rangers next face Celtic on January 2. If the Hoops reach the Scottish Cup final before then, it could mean that the Gers will be 12 points ahead of the Hoops when the sides next meet.

Of course, Celtic will have several games in hand by that point, but if the Light Blues keep up their unbeaten start to the season then Celtic won’t be able to catch their rivals even if they win them.

Gers fans will also be expecting their side to beat the Hoops at Ibrox after already overcoming their Old Firm rivals at Celtic Park this season. There is still a lot of football to be played between now and January, but there is no reason why we can’t speculate about the position the Gers could find themselves in when 2021 arrives.

In other Rangers news, a Lech Poznan defender has heavily criticised the Gers after their wid-week win over the Polish side.
