Ibrox View: Gerrard to axe 27y/o Europa flop in 4 changes – Predicted Rangers XI v Kilmarnock
Rangers face Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Sunday in the Scottish Premiership, with Steven Gerrard’s side looking to maintain their lead at the top of the table.
The Gers have a six-point advantage over their old firm rivals Celtic and are unbeaten so far, but face a tough trip to face an in-form Kilmarnock, who have won four of their last six league fixtures.
Rangers beat Livingston 2-0 in their most recent Scottish Premiership match up, before securing a 1-0 win over Lech Poznan in the Europa League on Thursday night.
Looking ahead to Sunday and Gerrard is likely to make wholesale changes from Poznan, continuing the trend of rotation.
In goal, expect Allan McGregor to continue, as he has for Rangers’ last four matches in all competitions.
James Tavernier and Borna Barisic have been outstanding in the full-back positions and will retain their places, while Connor Goldson has been an ever present.
Alongside Goldson, we expect Filip Helander to return, with Glen Kamara keeping his spot in midfield and Steven Davis given a rest.
Ryan Jack could return alongside the Finn after he came on as a substitute against Poznan, while Hagi should move into his preferred number 10 position, rather than playing from the right.
The impressive Ryan Kent will continue from the left, with goalscorer against Livingston Joe Aribo on the right.
Up top, Gerrard has a decision to make, with Jermain Defoe scoring his first league goal of the season last Sunday, but we expect Alfredo Morelos to start following his winner at Ibrox on Thursday.
The Colombian equalled Ally McCoist’s club record for European goals against Poznan, and Gerrard will be eager to see him recapture his very best form leading the line for the Gers.
27-year-old Kemar Roofe, who flopped on Thursday night, should also be benched.
