Rangers confirmed team news: Zungu & 19y/o feature as five changes made v Lech Poznan

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has made five changes to his starting line-up for the Gers’ Europa League group stage clash against Lech Poznan at Ibrox.

Ahead of kick-off on Thursday night, Rangers confirmed on their official Twitter account that Borna Barisic, Leon Balogun, Glen Kamara, Scott Arfield and Kemar Roofe have all returned to the starting line-up.

Calvin Bassey, Filip Helander, Joe Aribo, Ryan Jack and Jermain Defoe have been dropped and it’s also worth mentioning that 19-year-old Nathan Patterson and new signing Bongani Zungu have made the bench.

Rangers go into their second Europa League group stage match in a brilliant vein of form after wins against Celtic and Standard Liege in recent weeks.

Gerrard’s side is top of the Scottish Premiership, six points clear of their Old Firm rivals after a straightforward 2-0 win over Livingston on Sunday.

Lech Poznan, on the other hand, have suffered from a mix bag of results in their last few fixtures.

In their last three matches, Poznan have lost to Jagiellonia, lost to Benfica and drawn with Cracovia but before that went on a five-match winning run.

Rangers will have to be careful they don’t witness a Poznan bounce-back on Thursday night but the quality of the two sides should really show with Gerrard bringing in the players that he has done.

Charlie Adam has predicted that the Light Blues will win comfortably and after seeing the team news, we can only agree with the former Gers midfielder.

In other Rangers news, Gerrard’s been raving about this “world-class” Gers player ahead of the meeting with Lech Poznan.
