Hoops support vanishing as Celtic-mad Brazil makes big 20/21 claim about Rangers
talkSPORT host and Celtic-mad Alan Brazil has admitted that Rangers are now the favourites to lift the Scottish Premiership.
The Gers have got off to a flying start this season under Steven Gerrard and sit top of the table, six points clear of Celtic.
Rangers have won their last four league fixtures and remain unbeaten, with 10 wins from their opening 12 matches.
A Celtic supporter after spending his youth career with the closely linked Celtic Boys Club, Brazil conceded that Rangers had improved this season and were now favourites for the title.
“Ally’s [McCoist] not gloating yet but I think the time might come,” Brazil told The Scottish Sun.
“I felt the game at Parkhead at New Year showed how much Rangers had improved — but then they fizzled out after the winter break.
“They are definitely better again this season. They are stronger and they’ll have grown in self-belief after putting Celtic to the sword last weekend.
“They must be favourites for the title now. And Steven will be on their shoulders every step of the way to make sure they don’t slip up again.”
All to play for
While Rangers have made a great start and dominated Celtic in their meeting earlier this month at Celtic Park, the Hoops sit just six points adrift with a game in hand.
Meanwhile, talismanic striker Odsonne Edouard missed the match due to injury and his return to the side could be important.
With just 12 matches played, there is very much all to play for and as Rangers learned last season, it is tough to maintain this level of form throughout the entire season.
During the 2019-20 campaign, Gerrard’s side lost just one of their opening 22 league fixtures, before enduring a run of three defeats in eight games as they saw their title hopes evaporate.
The club have added depth this season and look to have improved defensively, conceding just three goals in their opening 12 matches, but we should not be thinking about the title just yet.
In other Rangers news, Steven Gerrard has been warned off a Premier League return by a former teammate.
