Rangers fans to miss out despite SFA plans for stadiums re-opening in early Nov – report
Fans could be back at some SPFL games as early as November 6 but the wait will go on for Rangers fans, according to The Daily Record.
Gers fans are yet to see their team play in the flesh this season due to the COVID-19 pandemic and have missed momentous wins away at Celtic and more recently away at Standard Liege in the Europa League.
But this new report says that some clubs in the Scottish Premiership may be able to welcome fans back as soon as November 6.
According to The Daily Record, there have been discussions between the SPFL and the Scottish Government following Nicola Sturgeon’s plan to introduce a five-tier lockdown system in the country as of November 2.
The new lockdown system could mean that in lower-risk areas, limited numbers of fans will be allowed into games after being unable to watch their side for months.
Unfortunately for Gers fans, it seems that the gates of Ibrox will remain shut despite this new development as the central belt is still a high-risk area.
The Light Blues take on Hamilton on November 8 and while a few days before that some fans may have been allowed into Aberdeen and Ross County’s matches, Ibrox will remain empty for Hamilton’s visit.
There is, of course, no confirmation that fans will definitely be allowed in stadiums in two weeks time, but the fact that it is being discussed as a potential option is a reason to be positive.
Although Gers fans will be finding the news hard to swallow as they will have to carry on watching their team from the comfort of their own homes. Of course, the safety of the public has to come first and Glasgow remains a high-risk area, but hopefully, if there are less reported COVID cases in the near future then plans can start to be made to get Rangers fans back into Ibrox.
