‘De Bruyne has posters on his bedroom wall’ – Many Rangers fans in awe of ‘unreal’ star v Livi
Rangers right-back James Tavernier took pelters from fans last season but he kept his head down and has definitely turned a big corner.
Tav has been a standout player for Rangers this season and put in another man-of-the-match display in the 2-0 win against Livingston on Sunday.
After beating Celtic and then Standard Liege, a win against Livingston might not have made the same headlines but Gers fans know these are the important games if Rangers are going to win the league.
It was another clean sheet as well, with Livingston restricted to just one shot on target all game.
Tavernier is doing brilliantly in defence and in attack – and it was the pass that he pinged through to Jermain Defoe for the second goal of the game that really had the fans purring.
It’s an incredible pass that got overlooked because of the sublime finish from Defoe but it deserves another look.
It’s the sort of pass that Kevin De Bruyne makes his stock in trade and one Gers fan made reference to the Man City player when he said, “De Bruyne has posters of Tavernier on his bedroom wall.”
Tav got a 7.8 rating from WhoScored and that’s actually slightly down on his season average, which is sitting at 7.97.
That’s a phenomenal average from the Rangers captain and plenty of supporters queued up to pay tribute to Tavernier on Twitter.
And, as another pointed out, he only cost the club £250,000.
