Report details major update on Jack Wilshere future amid Ibrox transfer speculation
Rangers target Jack Wilshere is reportedly considering a move to MLS after having his contract at West Ham terminated earlier this month.
According to the Mirror, the 28-year-old midfielder has attracted interest from within the UK and from overseas but is in favour of a move across the Atlantic to the USA.
It is understood that Wilshere sees MLS as the league where he can remind English football just why he was so highly-rated when he first broke onto the scene at Arsenal.
Unfortunately for the ex-Gunners midfielder, injuries and poor form have seen his career take a plunge in the last few years.
Rangers have been linked with signing the 34-times England international since his contract at West Ham was torn up.
PA Sport journalist Andy Newport reported on October 10 that Wilshere “would be willing to consider” a move to Govan but this update by the Mirror suggests that the midfielder has other preferences with the USA an option for him.
While we would like to see Wilshere join Rangers, it’s not going to be the end of the world if a deal doesn’t happen.
Steven Gerrard’s side has been in fantastic form this season and players are not starting to return to full fitness so his squad is almost fully fit.
Bongani Zungu and Nikola Katic are still out but Zungu should be available for his debut soon and he adds another option for Gerrard in the centre of the midfield.
But while Rangers fans have called for more midfield options to be added to the squad, Gerrard does have Steven Davis, Glen Kamara, Ryan Jack and Scott Arfield all able to play there and all are in great form.
Wilshere would have been nice but due to his injury issues, moving to MLS may make more sense than heading to Scotland to get absolutely clattered on plastic pitches every few weeks.
In other Rangers news, fans were left awestruck by this player’s “out of this world” performance.
