‘Absolutely brilliant’ – Ally McCoist can’t stop watching ‘Quality’ Rangers moment

Rangers forward Kemar Roofe made Europa League history on Thursday evening in the 2-0 victory against Standard Liege.

His long-range goal from his own half was actually the furthest a goal has ever been scored from in the competition, not a bad record to hold.

It caused some controversy after the celebrations, but no one can argue that it was one of the best goals they have ever seen – even the Liege fans which were present.

Ally McCoist admitted with that claim, saying that he has watched Roofe’s strike nearly 40 times since it happened a couple of days ago.

“What a goal,” he said on BT Sport.

“Atleast, I think the last count it was 39 times.

“It was absolutely brilliant. It must be some goal for Steven Gerrard to say, it’s the best goal he’s ever witnessed live at a football game will tell you the quality of the goal.”

rangersIt was a magnificent goal, and it well and truly welcomed back Roofe from his injury struggles in the past month at Ibrox.

Not only did it blow most people away, but it has also seen many calls for him to start against Livingston on Sunday afternoon.

Alfredo Morelos has struggled recently and hasn’t found the back of the net in weeks – something which could see him lose his spot this weekend.

If McCoist had his way, the Colombian would have been named on the bench already.
