‘Out of this world’, ‘Man of the match’ – Many Rangers fans awestruck by ‘Best player’ v Liege

Rangers fans cannot get enough of Ryan Jack.

On Thursday night, the 28-year-old returned to Steven Gerrard’s starting line-up and produced a midfield masterclass in Rangers’ XX Standard Liege in the opening Europa League group stage fixture.

Jack was only used as a substitute as the Gers beat Celtic at the weekend but the former Aberdeen midfielder clearly didn’t let that affect his display in the torrential rain in Belgium.

In the second half, as the rain got heavier and disrupted BT Sports’ coverage of the match, Jack was one player who stood out.

Although it was a tough surface to play on due to the amount of water on the pitch, Jack’s passing was almost flawless and he relished the defensive side of the game as Standard went in search of an equaliser.

It was a top display by Jack and by the rest of the Rangers squad as they ground out all three points in Liege and fans took to Twitter to pay tribute to the Scotland international.

Here is a selection of their tweets:

Jack has been superb this season and he was very unlucky to not start against Celtic because the only reason he didn’t was because Gerrard’s midfielders are in such good form at the moment.

How do you pick three of Jack, Steven Davis, Glen Kamara and Scott Arfield? Someone’s got to miss out and no matter what, it’s going to be a harsh decision.

Recent international matches could have been on Gerrard’s mind with Jack playing for Scotland in the UEFA Nations League and Euro 2021 qualifiers. Kamara played for Finland but he’s like a Duracell bunny that never stops running.

Jack’s a credit to Rangers and we’re so lucky to have him in our squad.
