‘Nothing like it’ – Ally McCoist calls for big Rangers change v Livingston
Ally McCoist has backed Rangers forward Alfredo Morelos to be dropped against Livingston on Sunday afternoon at Ibrox.
The Gers legend believes that Kemar Roofe should start the clash after his moment of magic in the 2-0 win over Standard Liege.
Roofe made Europa League history on Thursday, scoring from the furthest ever distance in the competition with his last-ditch strike.
McCoist claimed that Morelos is nothing like the player he has shown in previous seasons, as he once again failed to find the back of the net.
“Still nothing like the player he has been, nothing like it,” he said on BT Sport.
“I would start Roofe at the weekend, over Morelos.”
It would be a big call, but it will have been coming after the Colombian international had struggled in recent weeks.
Roofe has only just come back from injury, and it appears that Cedric Itten isn’t on the verge of earning a starting spot at Ibrox.
Morelos didn’t have a single shot against Celtic and only managed a couple against Liege, finishing with an expected goal tally of only 0.16 according to WyScout.
The Colombian’s teammate, Roofe was only on the pitch for 20 minutes and had three shots on goal – two of those on target.
He looked refreshed returning from injury, and McCoist has backed him to continue that form against Livingston from the first whistle on Sunday.
