‘Not so sure…’ – Chris Sutton claims Rangers player should have seen red v Celtic
Chris Sutton has claimed that Rangers forward Alfredo Morelos should have been sent off in the Old Firm derby against Celtic.
The Colombian was involved in an altercation with Scott Brown, where he harmlessly slapped him on the back of the head.
Sutton surprisingly praised the Bears for their first-half performance, as they went in to the break at 1-0.
Sutton took to his personal Twitter account during the break, where he reservedly heaped praise on the away side.
“Rangers the better team and deservedly ahead,” he wrote. “Not so sure Morelos should still be on the pitch.”
The former Celtic man is once again clutching at straws, and there was no chance that Morelos should have been cautioned for that one.
If it was any other player but Brown, we could have seen some play-acting but even the Celtic skipper would admit it was harmless.
Rangers were superb in the first half, and the fact that Sutton was clutching at straws highlighted the fact that the Celtic half of Glasgow were rattled.
The home side were dispossessed nine times in the opening period according to WhoScored, and they couldn’t settle on the ball for one moment.
The likes of Morelos, Ryan Kent and Brandon Barker were all over Celtic, and the Colombian giving Brown a simple tap on the head was at the tip of that.
Celtic fans don’t complain when one of their players are trying to get a reaction out of Morelos, but when the shoe is on the other foot, all of a sudden it’s a red card – laughable.
