Gerrard makes four changes for Old Firm clash – Confirmed Rangers XI v Celtic

Steven Gerrard has made four changes to his Rangers side for today’s Old Firm, bringing Allan McGregor, Filip Helander, Steven Davis and Brandon Barker back into his starting 11.

38-year-old McGregor replaces Jon McLaughlin in goal and adds great experience to a strong Rangers team.

Leon Balogun, Ryan Jack and Jordan Jones all drop to the bench for the vital game at Celtic Park after starting the Gers’ last game against Ross County.

The backline stays mainly the same with James Tavernier, Connor Goldson and Borna Barisic keeping their places as they are joined by Helander.

Ahead of them, there’s a midfield three of Davis, Glen Kamara and Scott Arfield, with Brandon Barker and Ryan Kent out wide. Ahead of them is Alfredo Morelos.

Morelos is fit to start after playing for his country through the week and is looking to finally grab his first goal against the Hoops.

The team news was announced on the official Rangers Twitter, with the game being shown live on Sky Sports.

This is a strong team selection from Gerrard. There were question marks over the fitness of Morelos and Barisic coming into today’s game but the two highly influential Gers players are fit to start.

Rangers go into this game knowing that a win will put them in a great position early in the season as they look to stop their city rivals winning another title.

If Morelos can bag himself that first derby goal then he could contribute to a monumental Rangers win on the home turf of their greatest rivals. This game is entirely in Rangers’ hands and they could really set the tone for the rest of the season with a win today.
