‘Flawless’, ‘ Take him in a minute’ – Some Rangers & Celtic fans praise one player after 2-0 win

James Tavernier put in another fantastic performance on Saturday, creating the first goal as Rangers dismantled Celtic in Saturday’s Old Firm clash.

Rangers, looking to record back-to-back Old Firm wins for the first time since 2009, found themselves ahead after just nine minutes thanks to a brilliant glancing header from Connor Goldson.

The delivery came from the skipper and it means he’s now had a hand in nine goals in 11 appearances this season – incredible numbers for a full-back.

Tav came in for a lot of criticism last season but he kept his head down and has completely turned things around this season.

One fan said he was “playing like a proper captain” and predicted that Gers would go on to win the title.

Tavernier even came in for praise from a Celtic fan who said, “We used to slag Tavernier a the time… I’d take him in a minute.”

Now that’s high praise. And he wasn’t the only one, with another Celtic supporter saying Jeremie Frimpong was hopeless in comparison.

Rangers were by far the better side at Celtic Park and while every Ger put in a fantastic display – not least Connor Goldson who scored both goals – Celtic were conspicuous for their toothlessness. The result was never in doubt.

Celtic have relied on late goals to even keep themselves up with Rangers so far this season and the display today shows a changing of guard at the top of the Premiership.
