‘Incredible’ – Exclusive: Alex McLeish delivers verdict as Rangers swat Celtic aside
We’re delighted to welcome former Rangers manager Alex McLeish as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Ibrox…
Alex McLeish has said that the 2-0 win today at Celtic Park was an “incredible boost” for Rangers.
It was a straightforward win for the Gers who dominated the game, with Connor Goldson getting both goals.
It sees Rangers build a four-point gap at the top of the table with one bookie now making them the favourites to lift the trophy.
Talking exclusively to Ibrox News McLeish said, “It’s an incredible boost for Rangers. You look at the last two winter breaks and Gerrard’s side have dipped in form a little bit.
“I wouldn’t say third-time lucky, but if they go in with another lead at the top, they’ll know from experience that those hiccups should not and will not happen again.
“The next Old Firm game is at Ibrox now and all Rangers have to do is make sure they’re winning all the other games.
“They simply can’t afford to lose any games they should be winning but this is an incredible boost.
“I thought it would be a tight game, I’d predicted a 1-0 win.”
The plaudits have been coming in for Gerrard’s side after the win today and a brilliant start to the season.
Gers came through a tricky Europa tie against Galatasaray and have now recorded back-to-back Old Firm wins.
The manner of this one will have Celtic people very worried.
