‘Celtic have got problems’ – Exclusive: McLeish predicts score in massive Celtic v Rangers clash

We’re delighted to welcome former Rangers manager Alex McLeish as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Ibrox…

Alex McLeish has predicted that Rangers will take all three points from the first Old Firm clash of the season on Saturday.

McLeish thinks it will be a tight game but that Rangers will come out on top by a single goal, predicting a 1-0 win for Steven Gerrard’s men.

Celtic have problems ahead of the fixture, the main one being striker Odsonne Edouard, who is likely to be missing after testing positive for Covid-19.

Talking exclusively to Ibrox News McLeish said, “Celtic have got problems and I think if Rangers have their strongest team out then I think they win the game.

“I would say it will be close, though, and I’m going to go for a 1-0 victory for Rangers.

“The clean sheets have been a key part of Rangers’ start to the season and long may that continue.

“When you go in as a defender looking at your back four or back five, you have to have that strong mentality.

“A clean sheet gives your teammates a great chance to win the game for you.”

Rangers have kept eight clean sheets from their first 10 games in the Premiership and are still unbeaten in the league.

Another clean sheet on Saturday would be a massive boost in a season that’s hugely important for both Gerrard and the club.

A 1-0 win would see the Gers stay top of the table and build a four-point gap back to Celtic in second.
