‘Shut up’ – Alan Brazil clashes with talkSPORT guest over Rangers & Celtic suggestion
Alan Brazil has told Jamie O’Hara to “shut up” after the ex-Tottenham player suggested the Merseyside derby is bigger than Rangers versus Celtic.
Steven Gerrard’s men travel to Parkhead on Saturday for the first Old Firm of the season while down south, Everton host Liverpool at Goodison Park.
O’Hara was a guest on talkSPORT radio on Thursday morning and he cheekily suggested that the Merseyside showdown is bigger than the one in Glasgow.
Ex-Celtic man Brazil wasn’t having any of it.
Speaking on talkSPORT, as quoted by the Daily Record, O’Hara asked: “Is the Merseyside Derby bigger than the Glasgow Derby?”
Alan Brazil responded by saying: “Shh, shut up.
“Come on, dear oh dear. That’s like you putting yourself up with Arsene as manager of the year.”
Ex-Rangers striker and manager Ally McCoist was also on the show. After hearing what O’Hara said, he said: “Jamie, you behave yourself. Just calm down, just calm down.”
Rangers and Celtic fans will say the Old Firm is bigger.
Liverpool and Everton fans will say the Merseyside derby is bigger.
One thing is for sure and that is that one is way more competitive than the other with Liverpool having the measure over Everton for years upon years now.
While the Gers did have a dry spell in the Old Firm, Steven Gerrard has led them back on track and Saturday’s showdown in Parkhead promises to be one of the most hotly-contested since the Light Blues’ return to the Scottish Premiership.
It’s a massive match and one that we need to win to show our champion credentials.
As for Liverpool and Everton, yes, Everton’s start to the season means a lot is riding on that game down south.
But there really isn’t any comparison when it comes to the competitiveness, the passion and the downright hatred between clubs.
Liverpool and Everton are like two Ned Flanders’ living next to each other in comparison to Rangers and Celtic.
