‘MOTM’, ‘I’m a Celtic fan but…’ – Many fans thrilled by Rangers player after int’l display

Scotland, Rangers and Celtic fans have been piling praise on midfielder Ryan Jack for his performance in Scotland’s 1-0 win against the Czech Republic on Wednesday night.

Steve Clarke’s side moved four points clear at the top of their UEFA Nations League group courtesy of an early goal by Ryan Fraser.

Although Czechia had the majority of the possession and shots at goal, Scotland thoroughly impressed as their fine run of form continued ahead of their vital Euro 2021 play-off against Serbia next month.

Jack, 28, is usually widely criticised by supporters when he’s on international duty.

We, as Rangers fans, know that it’s not because of the midfielder’s actual performances, it’s just that he’s a former Aberdeen player who’s now playing for the Gers.

Aberdeen fans can’t stand him for the way he left Pittodrie and Celtic fans can’t stand him for the obvious. Jack faces hostilities every time he pulls on the dark blue jersey.

But on Wednesday, something out of the ordinary happened as fans of international football heaped praise on the Rangers midfielder for his performance.

Stats by WyScout show that Jack completed just 67 per cent of his passes (his season average for Rangers is 91.9 per cent) but the ex-Dons midfielder stood out defensively by making 10 interceptions, eight recoveries and seven clearances.

Jack did superbly well playing a different type of role to what he’s used to at Ibrox and, as a result, supporters have shown their delight on Twitter.
