‘I’d bet on him’ – Rangers player tipped to make PL switch, Ibrox ace responds straight away
Norwich and Finland striker Teemu Pukki has tipped Rangers star Glen Kamara to seal a move to the Premier League at some point in his career.
Kamara, 24, has been one of the best players at Ibrox since his arrival in January 2019 and impressed for Finland on Sunday when they beat Bulgaria 2-0 in the UEFA Nations League.
The former Arsenal and Dundee midfielder won the man of the match award for his performance and also had a lot of Finland supporters raving about him on Twitter.
Kamara’s Finland team-mate Pukki has also been bigging up the Rangers midfielder ahead of the Scandinavian nation’s clash against the Republic of Ireland on Wednesday night.
“Glen is a top player and I think he would definitely do well in the English Premier League,” Pukki said, as quoted by the Daily Record.
“I’d bet on him playing there at some point in his career.”
Kamara was sat next to Pukki when he made that claim in a press conference.
The 24-year-old responded by saying: “I’m not focused on that kind of thing. I’m focusing on this game.”
“I enjoy playing with the national team and enjoy the manager, enjoy the group of boys that I’m with, and it’s always an honour to play for the national team.
“Since I’ve started playing, I’ve enjoyed it. I’ve got to know the players, I’ve got to know how the team plays and I feel like I’ve fitted in quite well, so hopefully long may it continue.”
Finland are in a golden era of international football.
They had never qualified for a major international tournament until last year when Kamara played a key role in them reaching Euro 2020, which has of course been postponed until next year.
In 2017, they were sat in 110th place in the FIFA World Rankings and now 56th.
At Ibrox, we all know the quality that Kamara has and, unfortunately, he is someone who could go on to play south of the border in the Premier League at some point in the future.
However, for now, we need to focus on the fact that we are blessed to have this player in the squad.
Kamara is a Swiss-army knife of a midfielder who gives 110 per cent every time he plays.
If someone comes in for the Finnish ace any time soon, Steven Gerrard needs to fight hard to keep him.
In other Rangers news, this goalkeeper is a doubt for the Gers against Celtic.
