Rangers still ‘bemused’ as Steven Gerrard learns disciplinary fate from Scottish FA
Rangers manager Steven Gerrard will face no further charge after learning the outcome of his disciplinary charge.
The Gers boss was charged by the Scottish FA in relation to comments he made in the aftermath of the 4-0 win over Dundee last month.
Gerrard was unhappy after no action was taken on Ryan Edwards after his shocking tackle on Alfredo Morelos at Ibrox.
The Bears have released a statement on their official Twitter account after the hearing, claiming they remain bemused by the initial charge.
“Rangers are unsurprised at the outcome of today’s hearing but remain bemused that the charge was brought against our manager Steven Gerrard in the first place,” they wrote.
“We now look forward to focussing on more important matters on the field of play.”
The charge did make little sense, and we are glad that common sense has prevailed with this one on Monday.
Attention must switch to matters on the pitch quickly, with a massive Old Firm clash coming up against Celtic on Saturday.
The winners of this one would take control of the league, and three points at Parkhead in consecutive seasons would be a bigger statement to make.
Gerrard and Morelos have moved on, and both will be relishing this weekends’ game, with the Colombian thankfully back for the derby, even if it is the day before.
