‘Needs a move up from Rangers’ – Many int’l fans blown away by Ibrox ace display in win

Finland fans have been waxing lyrical about Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara after he ran the show in their 2-0 win against Bulgaria on Sunday.

Robert Taylor and Fredrik Jensen scored for Markku Kanerva’s side but it was Kamara, 24, who stole the show in Helsinki.

Stats by WyScout show that Kamara completed all but two of the 58 passes he attempted against Bulgaria and all of the 17 forward passes. The former Arsenal and Dundee midfielder also made seven recoveries, one interception, three of four loose ball duels and one sliding tackle.

It’s no surprise that Finland’s official Twitter account named Kamara as the man of the match after 48 per cent of fans voted for him.

Finland fans have also been tweeting about Kamara’s display, seeing himself compared to the likes of N’Golo Kante, Andrea Pirlo and Xavi – some of the best deep-lying midfielders European football has seen in the last couple of decades.

Here is a selection of their tweets:

It’s nothing new for Rangers fans to see Kamara having a good match.

He’s been out of the stand-out players in Steven Gerrard’s side so far this season having played 12 times across all competitions.

It would be unthinkable for Rangers to lose the Finland international as he’s without doubt one of the most important players at Ibrox.

But, Kamara could come to agree with that one Finland fan at some point in the future after it was claimed he could do with a step up from the Gers.

Let’s hope that day isn’t any time soon.

In other Rangers news, another Celtic player is likely to miss the Old Firm.
