Ibrox View: Simply brilliant Rangers ace could be key man v Celtic after stunning int’l display

Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara played the full 90 minutes as his Finland side defeated Bulgaria 2-0 in the UEFA Nations League on Sunday.

Goals from Robert Taylor and Fredrik Jensen were enough to down Bulgaria, but it was the performance of Kamara that really caught the eye.

The Gers midfielder was sensational against Bulgaria, running the midfield from start to finish. Rangers fans will be happy to see one of their key men in such fine form in the week leading up to an Old Firm game.

The stats show just how good the Fin was for his country.

His passing stats are incredible. Kamara registered a 97% pass accuracy with his 56 of his 58 passes finding the intended target. Also, his accuracy for passes into the final third, passes into the penalty box and forward passes were 100% – simply brilliant (WyScout).

Kamara makes things happen in the midfield and his forward passing stats show just how vital he can be in starting attacking moves. This could put the Gers in good stead going into an Old Firm game against a depleted Celtic side.

The midfielder also chipped in defensively for Finland. He won 100% of his sliding tackles and 100% of his total defensive duels. Kamara also won 75% of his duels for loose balls. Add this to the seven recoveries he made across the 90 minutes, and these defensive stats show how much of a complete performer Kamara can be, both going forward and tracking back.

Kamara excelled on a night where 86% of his total actions were successful and in an important game for his country. The 24-year-old has a huge game ahead of him this coming week as Rangers travel to Celtic Park hoping to repeats last season’s away victory.

If the Finland international hits the level he found against Bulgaria on Sunday night then he could be a key man for the Gers as they look to assert dominance in the race for the Scottish Premiership title.
