‘Ask the manager’ – Rangers ace slams international boss after bruising defeat
Rangers winger Ianis Hagi has criticised his national side’s manager after losing 4-0 to Norway on Sunday night.
Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland scored a hattrick as Romania were bulldozed in their UEFA Nations League game.
The Daily Record report that following the game, the Gers attacker shifted the blame to Romania manager Mirel Radoi saying that “you should ask the manager” as to why his side didn’t create chances.
He said, “It is a result we did not expect, it is a big disappointment, but this is not the face of the national team. You should ask the manager about why we didn’t have chances.
“You run after the ball for four or five minutes then when you have it at your feet you can’t do anything. You lose your energy, your breath, and all you can do is draw a foul.
“We are at the beginning of the road with the new coach and we could not apply on the field what is transmitted to us from the sidelines. I’m very upset so I don’t want to say anything stupid.”
Radoi took over the Romanian national side in November 2019 and has overseen four games in which his side have only won one, beating Austria 3-2 in September.
Hagi has only started twice in those four games and clearly isn’t impressed with his new manager. The Romanian winger is used to having plenty of the ball and plenty of chances when he plays for Rangers and Steven Gerrard and he clearly isn’t getting the same chances at international level.
This outburst perhaps shows a side of Hagi that Gers supporters are unfamiliar with and they may be conscious that he could rock the boat at Ibrox with outlandish comments, should things start to go wrong at Rangers.
Hagi will be next in action for the Light Blues when they take on Celtic in this weekend’s Old Firm game. Gers fans will be hoping Hagi puts his international disappointment behind him and he can help contribute to another away win against their city rivals.
In other Rangers news, this simply brilliant Rangers ace could key man v Celtic after stunning international display.
