Report details how much Rangers need to pay to sign Zungu permanently in 2021

Rangers have already agreed a fee for the potential permanent transfer of Bongani Zungu with his parent club Amiens according to the Daily Record.

The 28-year-old midfielder arrived at Ibrox on deadline day and became the ninth new addition to Steven Gerrard’s squad this season.

The Daily Record has reported that the Gers will have to pay £2.7 million to secure the permanent services of Zungu, should he impress during his loan spell.

The report says, “Rangers will have to splash out £2.7million to sign Bongani Zungu if the South African impresses enough to win a permanent deal. MailSport can reveal that was the fee agreed between the Premiership giants and French Ligue 2 club Amiens when he joined Steven Gerrard’s side on loan on transfer deadline day.”

Gerrard was after a new midfielder all summer and it looks as if he finally got his man as Zungu arrived at Ibrox ready to aid in the Gers’ title challenge and European campaign.

Zungu joins a stacked Gers midfield. He will be competing with Ryan Jack, Joe Aribo, Scott Arfield, Steven Davis and Glen Kamara for a place in Gerrard’s starting 11.f

It may seem that there was no need for Rangers to bring in another central midfielder if you look at who is already at the club. But early-season injuries to Jack and Aribo have shown that the Gers were only a few unfortunate injuries away from being in trouble.

We’re sure that Gerrard would rather have a selection head-ache based on having too many rather players, rather than too few.

Zungu could make his first Gers appearance in next weekend’s Old Firm game which could seem daunting to a new signing, but Zungu’s former South Africa manager believes the new Gers man can handle the occasion.
