‘Something different’ – Jack Wilshere names where he is ‘leaning towards’ amid Rangers links
Reported Rangers target Jack Wilshere has claimed that he want to “try something different” with his next move.
The 28-year-old is a free agent having terminated his contract with West Ham by mutual consent recently, and is currently on the lookout for a new club.
It is understood that the Gers hold a “genuine interest” in the former Arsenal man, but the player himself has talked up the prospect of a move to mainland Europe.

In an interview with talkSPORT, the midfielder also suggested that he would make a decision over his next destination in the near future.
He said: “I think I want to try something different – I am leaning towards that. Maybe LaLiga, Italy, something a little bit different that not many English players have done.
“At the same time, I am probably going to take a week or two to decide. I was in this position when I left Arsenal and if I have learnt anything from that, it is to take your time and make sure it is right for you.
“Not that I have regrets that I went to West Ham because in my head things would have turned out differently. But this time I am going to take my time and find something that suits me.
“I just want to be happy playing football again. When I first signed for West Ham and the first three games when I started, before I picked up a little injury, that was probably the last time I could tell you I was happy playing football.”

What does this mean for Rangers?
At the moment, there’s nothing to be discouraged by, as far as we’re concerned.
Yes, he names Spain and Italy as two potential destinations, but “something different” could just as easily mean Glasgow as it could Madrid or Milan.
The fact that Wilshere knows Steven Gerrard could be a positive factor for the Gers, and former boss Alex McLeish has told Ibrox News that he believes the player’s desire to prove that he still has something to prove could play into our hands too.
Only time will tell how this one pans out, of course, but at the very least, it sounds as if we should get a decision pretty shortly.
