‘Could see it happening’ – Charlie Adam delivers verdict on reported Rangers interest in 28y/o

Charlie Adam has claimed that he “could see” Jack Wilshere signing for Rangers.

The 28-year-old is free agent since terminating his contract with West Ham by mutual consent.

The Gers have emerged as a potential destination for the player, with talkSPORT reporting that there is “genuine interest” in completing a deal for the former Arsenal man.

The Daily Mail have also suggested that no official approach has been made yet, but Adam is of the belief that a switch could be a realistic prospect.

Speaking to PLZ Soccer, he said: “There’s always a possibility Wilshere could come to Rangers.

“Will it be a pay as you play? Because he will still be getting paid from West Ham, and he might just think I might go up there and play until the end of this season.

“I could see it happening because Steven’s got that presence so it wouldn’t surprise me.

“When a quality player like Wilshere becomes available you’ve got to grab the bull by the horns and try and get that deal done.”

Could Wilshere sign for Rangers?

The idea of the ex-Gunner making the move north of the border certainly looks as if it is gaining traction.

Alongside Adam’s input on the matter, we have also seen Ally McCoist urge his former side to wrap up a deal for the player.

Of course, any switch would depend hugely on Wilshere’s willingness to take a pay cut.

There’s no way that Rangers could offer anywhere near the reported £100,000-a-week he was on at West Ham.

Given his patchy injury record, perhaps a pay-as-you-play deal could be a smart solution for Steven Gerrard’s men.

If they do, he could be a really classy addition to the squad at Ibrox.

In other Rangers news, this midfielder is not joining the Gers.
