Sun journo: Rangers enquire about Ch’ship 23y/o, loan-to-buy offer tabled

Rangers have made an enquiry about Huddersfield Town midfielder Juninho Bacuna, according to The Sun journalist Alan Nixon

The Gers are in there market for another midfielder before the transfer window closes, and it would appear that they have turned their attention, in part, to the 23-year-old.

Talks are still said to be ongoing for Amiens player Bongani Zungu, with the possibility of a late move still very much on the cards.

But Nixon has claimed that Steven Gerrard is keeping his options open, and has looked into the prospect of a loan move with an option-to-buy written into it.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, he said: “Rangers. Search for an attacking midfielder.

“Enquiry for Bacuna at Huddersfield.

“Loan with a view. Rejected at this point.”

Would Bacuna be a good signing?

Hands up who saw this one coming. Anybody? Yeah, us neither.

Rangers are clearly in the hunt for midfield reinforcements, but this one is very much a bolt from the blue.

As for Bacuna himself, his stats don’t make for the best reading.

As per Wyscout, his shot accuracy, pass completion rate, dribble success rate, and number of ball recoveries per 90 minutes have all be notably lower than Scott Arfield’s this season.

That being said, if Gerrard has identified him as the man he wants at Ibrox, then we’ll trust the boss completely and get behind the player with everything we’ve got.

Football isn’t played on paper, and if the manager sees something he likes, who are we to disagree?
