‘Disgrace’, ‘Abhorrent’ – Many Rangers fans slam ’empty jersey’ in 2-0 win v Ross County

Rangers hardly put in a vintage display against Ross County on Sunday afternoon.

The Gers toiled away for much of the clash at Ibrox, and never really hit full stride in their 2-0 win.

Still, with Celtic winning earlier in the day, the priority was to pick up all three points by hook or by crook, and when all is said and done, they just about managed it.

If we’re being honest, however, it was no thanks to Alfredo Morelos.

The Colombian played 88 minutes on Sunday afternoon, but spent most of that time looking distinctly uninterested.

Just one of his five efforts on goal was on target, while his pass completion rate was nearly 7% lower than usual, as per Wyscout.

Moreover, he had an xG of 0.71, 0.09 higher than his season average, but was unable to find the back of the net at any point.

And his efforts, or lack thereof, didn’t go unnoticed by Rangers supporters.

Many were quick to blast the 24-year-old for his lacklustre work rate, and it really does raise an interesting question ahead of tonight’s 11pm transfer deadline.

Morelos, as we probably expected he would be, has been the transfer saga of the summer.

With less than 24 hours left, will the Gers receive an offer that makes them decide to cash in on him, or will they cling on to one of their star assets?

There are definitely arguments to be made in favour of either decision, but on the basis of what we saw on Sunday, there may well be a few people urging them to take the money and run.
