‘Not going anywhere’ – Gerrard claims Rangers ace will be handed new deal amid Euro interest

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has claimed that the club are set to offer Glen Kamara a new contract to fend off interest from Anderlecht.

The Belgian outfit have emerged as potential suitors for the Finland international in recent days, but has also been a regular for the Gers so far this season.

And his manager has insisted that he will not be going anywhere anytime soon.

As quoted by the Scottish Sun, he said: “Glen is not going anywhere.

“We are going to offer Glen a new contract when the time is right. The plan was always to get this window out of the way before we spoke about that. Glen is aware of that.

“We love Glen here. He is a fantastic player. We believe he is capable of playing for most teams out there at any level. He is that talented. He will always receive the ball. He takes responsibility and is playing with personality.

“We’re really delighted with Glen and he deserves a new deal. He won’t be going to Anderlecht. I guarantee you that.”

How important is it for Rangers to keep hold of Kamara?

The last thing you want to do as a title-contender is to let go of your most influential players.

For the Gers, Kamara is increasingly beginning to look like that kind of player.

This season, for instance, his pass completion rate, total action success rate, and duel win percentage have all been higher than they were last term, as per Wyscout.

With nine starts already this season, it is obvious how much Gerrard values him, and tying him down to a new deal would be a real boost.
