Report: Rangers plot late loan swoop for £30k/wk PL international – player will move by Monday

Rangers are plotting to bring Everton midfielder Muhamed Besic to Ibrox in a late transfer deal according to a report by Bosnian news outlet Sportske.

With just days remaining in the summer transfer window, Rangers could make a new addition to their midfield by signing £30k/wk Muhamed Besic from Everton.

Reports have stated that Besic is free to leave Goodison Park this summer, as he is not part of Carlo Ancelotti’s plans. The Bosnian national is into the final year of his Everton contract and will move.

The report claims it is ‘only a matter of days’ until he leaves, according to Sportske.

Sportske say that Besic is ‘high on the wish list’ of Steven Gerrard and that a ‘loan at a low price would be an ideal offer’ for Besic and Everton.

Besic spent last season on loan at Sheffield United, making 13 appearances in all competitions, but only starting twice in the Premier League.

He scored his solitary goal for the Blades in a 2-0 win away at Millwall in the FA Cup, but failed to make an appearance for Chris Wilder’s side after the January 21, and returned to Everton for project restart, where he failed to make an appearance.

The midfielder signed for the Toffees in 2014 from Hungarian outfit Ferencvaros, but has only made 56 appearances in all competitions in his four years at Goodison Park. Before his loan spell at Sheffield United, he also spent a year and a half on loan at Middlesbrough.

The defensive midfielder can also be deployed at right-back and could prove to be a versatile option for Steven Gerrard if he arrives at Ibrox in the near future.

With these reports suggesting that Gerrard wants Besic at Rangers, and Everton want rid of the Bosnian, it seems like this transfer could be done.
