‘Tremendous’ – Ally McCoist blown away by ‘top class’ moment in Rangers win v Galatasaray
Ally McCoist was blown away by Rangers opening goal in the Europa League against Galatasaray on Thursday evening.
Scott Arfield finished off a flowing move in the first-half after a beautiful string of passes from Ianis Hagi and James Tavernier.
The Bears legend couldn’t hide his delight for the Canadian, claiming it was a “top-class” goal to set the Gers on their way in the 2-1 win.
McCoist earlier claimed in the commentary that Arfield would get forward, and he backed up those claims, finishing expertly well.
“What a goal it is,” he said on Rangers TV.
“Brilliant Tavernier, a lovely over there – look at the weight of the ball from Hagi, tremendous.
“I said to you before in the first half, Arfield will get forward, look at the beautiful touch.
“It’s a top, top-class goal, it really is.”
It was a great move, and Rangers did the exact same for Tavernier’s goal too – scoring after the ball started with Allan McGregor in his own box.
Rangers deserved the 2-1 victory and will follow their fierce rivals in the Europa League group stage draw this week.
Steven Gerrard spoke very highly of Arfield through the week, claiming he has become one of his most consistent players this season.
The former Burnley man has been superb, and continued his run of goal involvements in the last three games with a finish McCoist would have been proud of.
