‘Gives me the fear’ – Many Rangers fans slam player having ‘Shocker’ at HT v Galatasaray

Rangers welcomed Galatasaray to Ibrox on Thursday evening, knowing one win would send them into the Europa League.

Steven Gerrard named a strong side, with the likes of Borna Barisic returning in defence and Alfredo Morelos leading the line.

The Gers started strongly and had a number of chances to open the scoring against the Turkish side who struggled early on.

Conor Goldson has been a mainstay under Gerrard in the past few years, and despite many new defenders arriving, he continues to keep his spot.

The 27-year-old nearly handed Galatasaray the lead midway through the half though, handing the chance for Sofiane Feghouli to score – thankfully he missed.

The former Brighton man looked nervous as the half progressed, and started to make strange decisions – sending long balls straight out of play when he could easily have kept possession.

Filip Helander has outperformed his defensive partner so far this season, completing more tackles and clearances per game according to WhoScored.

Many Rangers fans tore Goldson apart for his first-half performance at Ibrox on Thursday, claiming that he could have handed the away side an early lead.

If that chance would have been taken, the scolding could have been much worst, although he was handed the lifeline to improve further into the game.
