‘Could be the best bit of business Rangers do’ – Kris Boyd reacts to fresh Ibrox transfer update

Kris Boyd has claimed that keeping hold of Ryan Kent could be the “best bit of business that Rangers do this window”.

The winger has been the subject of continued interest from Leeds United this summer, with The Sun reporting earlier this week that the Premier League outfit will make a second move for the player if they fail to land Dan James from Manchester United.

The Whites had previously failed with a bid of around £10 million for Kent.

And Boyd has claimed that it is imperative that Rangers hang on to their star man.

Speaking on the Sky Sports Scottish Football podcast (September 30th), he said: “The most important thing for Rangers is to keep hold of Ryan Kent.

“There’s renewed interest from from Leeds if they don’t get their other targets.

“That could be the best bit of business Rangers do this window, keeping hold of Kent, because if they lose him, I fear the worse.”

How important is it that Rangers hang on to Kent?

Absolutely vital, there’s no two ways about it.

The winger has started the season in electric form, hitting five goals and five assists in his first 10 appearances, and his influence on his side’s fortunes seems to grow exponentially.

He’s been so good of late that Alex McLeish told Ibrox News that £20 million would be a “steal” for the player, and Peter Lovenkrands ha suggested that he is “outshining everyone” at Ibrox at the moment.

It’s hard to argue with either of those viewpoints, and if Rangers are serious about winning the title this season, they need to ensure that Kent is still in Glasgow come October 6th.

In other Rangers news, fans have blasted this BBC pundit for his “desperate” claim.
