‘Concerned’ – Neil Lennon confirms major Celtic injury blow for Rangers clash

Neil Lennon has confirmed that Celtic winger James Forrest is set to miss the Old Firm clash with Rangers in October.

The Gers have injury concerns of their own with Kemar Roofe and Joe Aribo missing, although they could return for the Celtic game.

Rangers have games against Galatasaray and Ross County beforehand, although they have already been handed a big boost ahead of the clash.

Lennon confirmed the blow on Wednesday, admitting that the Hoops are starting to get concerned over Forrest’s blow.

“Yes, I would imagine so,” he said via Irish News.

“We are a little concerned about James because it is a sore one and we haven’t got a length of time on it just as yet.”

It is a massive blow for Celtic, who at times this season haven’t been as free-flowing in the final third – something Steven Gerrard will have noticed as his defence grows stronger.

Despite the excellent record at the back, Borna Barisic has been one player who has been far from impressive this season.

The Croatian will have been tasked with the role of marking Forrest, and his pace could have caused him real problems down the left.

Forrest has scored twice and delivered an assist in his seven performances this season, and only two players have had more shots on goal than the 29-year-old [WhoScored].

Missing that attacking influence could affect Celtic massively, and could have given Rangers the upper hand already.
