PL club will make late bid for Rangers ace if priority transfer raid collapses – Report

Leeds United will make a second attempt to sign Rangers’ Ryan Kent if they fail to land their priority transfer target, according to The Scottish Sun.

The national publication claim that the Whites will return with a second bid for Kent should their attempts to sign Daniel James from Manchester United end in failure.

Kent has already been the subject of a £10 million bid from the Yorkshire club this summer, but that was knocked back after Gers manager Steven Gerrard claimed the offer was ‘nowhere near’ the Gers’ valuation of the 23-year-old.

The report in the Scottish Sun says the potential Kent transfer is dependant on the future of Jadon Sancho. If Sancho moves to Old Trafford, James will be allowed to move to Leeds, which would end the White’s pursuit of Kent.

It also says Rangers will be demanding upwards of £15 million for Kent.

If Leeds are prepared to stump up £20 million, however, they could activate the winger’s release clause.

How big of a blow would it be to lose Kent?

Massive, there’s no two ways about it.

Kent has largely been excellent for Rangers since he joined the club, but he has really taken his game to another level this term, registering five goals and five assists in his 10 appearances so far.

It would be hugely disappointing for Gers fans to see him leave, especially with the likes of Peter Lovenkrands showering him with praise to really reiterate his quality.

If there is some solace to be taken, however, it is that Kent himself has reportedly told the Gers that he wants to stay in Glasgow.

Still, Rangers fans will be hoping that Manchester United can wrap up a deal for Sancho, as that would allow Leeds to sign James, and this saga can finally be put to bed.
