Ibrox View: Gerrard should forget Babel, Rangers must keep this Galatasaray ace quiet

The busy schedule continues for Rangers on Thursday, as they welcome Galatasaray to Ibrox in the Europa League qualifiers.

After the 4-0 thrashing of Willem II, the Bears are one round away from the group stage – something which would financially boost the home side.

Steven Gerrard will be looking for his side to continue their form after they cruised past Motherwell easily 5-1 on Sunday afternoon.

Gerrard pointed out former teammate Ryan Babel as someone who his Rangers defence must look out for in the final third.

“He was a hell of a player to play alongside because he is powerful, he is quick, he can go past players and he has a cannon in his right foot. So he is a very dangerous opponent,” he told the Scotsman.

Although one player doesn’t make a team, we believe that Gerrard should forget about Babel, and instead pay more attention to Radamel Falcao.

The Colombian is a legend of the game and has thrived at teams such as Atletico, Manchester United and Porto throughout his career.

Unsurprisingly, Falcao has also started this season on fire – scoring three goals from as many games in the Turkish top flight.

That is only from nine touches in the opposition’s penalty area [WyScout], meaning if Rangers even give the veteran forward one chance at Ibrox, he is likely to take it.

Usually, if the opposing striker only touches the ball once in the area, the defence would class it as a success, although the Bears may not even be able to do that.
